Melitta Ducklow

Obituary of Melitta Mary Ducklow

Melitta (Mae) Ducklow of North St. Paul passed away on March 17 at the age of 90. Mae will always be remembered for her calm, sweet nature and strong faith. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church for over 60 years and a member of the CCW.

Mae was born on October 29, 1933 in Pierz, MN. She was the youngest of Joe and Frances Tschida’s seven children. As a young adult she moved to St. Paul where she worked at a credit union. While living there, she went on a blind date with Lyle Ducklow and within a year they were married. They eventually purchased a small house in North St. Paul where they raised their growing family.

Mae’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother to her seven children: Tony Ducklow, Ann O’Brien, Tim Ducklow, Linda Berger, Kathy Griffith, Monica Crowder and Tina Ducklow. She also had a special bond with her sons-in-law Dan, Jim, Tom, Jeff and Jason and daughters-in-law Linda Ruth and Janell.

Mae will be missed by her grandchildren: Bridget, Quinn (Heather), Marcus, Luke (Lauren), Clint (Melissa), Nicole (Dylan), Dustin, Colin (May Joy), Ben (Sarah), Katie (Tony), Jenna, Kayla (George), Ty, Gus, Leo, Annika (Max) and Kyle and her 9 adorable great-grandchildren: Leighton, Titus, Nora, Harper, Bailey, Caysen, Jax, Murphy and Chloe Mae.

She is also survived by sister-in-law Eileen Tschida, best friend Maria Vickery and many nieces and nephews.

Mae was welcomed into heaven by husband, Lyle, and grandson, Ryan O’Brien, along with her parents and siblings Clarence Tschida, Clara (Jerry) Brenny, Lorraine (Vince) Grahn, Loretta (Pete) Lee, and Leo Tschida.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 21 at 10:45am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 2600 N. Margaret St. in North St. Paul. Visitation at church one hour prior to service. Lunch will be served at the church following her interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in North St. Paul.

Special thanks to the memory care staff at Eagan Pointe Senior Living who provided Mae with so much love and care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Gillette Children’s Hospital in St. Paul to honor the lives of Mae and her grandson Ryan O’Brien.
